Operator interface assessment
Control applications fail in the hands of tired operators as often as they fail in protocol design. We sit through real or rehearsed tasks and record how the interface invites mistakes.
This assessment is not a visual redesign. It is a review of whether the control application makes dangerous actions easy, silent, or reversible.
We watch start-up, product changeover, alarm acknowledgement, and vendor remote-assist flows. We note shared logins on workshop tablets, session timeouts that never fire, confirmation dialogs that operators dismiss by habit, and colour-only state that disappears in bright plant lighting.
We also check whether the same person can approve a setpoint and then hide the audit trail from the next shift. Where a contractor app sits beside the official HMI, we treat both as in-scope.
You leave with a task-by-task record, screenshots tied to shift roles, and a short list of interface changes that reduce accidental writes without slowing a competent operator.
